Have you been challenged???

My friend Marie of Marie’s Creative Space loves a challenge! And her challenges sometimes turn into my challenges, because she asks me to quilt some of her challenge quilts! Recently I quilted her quilt for the Hoffman Challenge and while it didn’t win, it was picked to be part of their traveling exhibit! Pretty cool, huh? On this quilt I tried to mimic the fabric in the solid fabrics. And around the 3-D flowers in the center was a simple background fill to make the flowers “pop!” Then there was the Modern Quilt Guild‘s “Michael Miller Challenge” where we were… Read more »

Thread, Thread, Thread…

I spent the past week at the MQX Quilt Festival in Manchester. It was a great week filled with lots of fun and lots of learning! More on that later. What I really wanted to do was talk thread. I have been using mostly Signature 100% cotton thread in my longarm for the past 12 years. I don’t have any problems with it, the colors are great and well, it’s predictable. The past few months I’ve been paying attention when someone would ask another machine quilter what kind of thread they like/use. Quite a few said they love Glide, while… Read more »

Building Up Friday – Double Trouble

I began my journey as a machine quilter in 2000. I was looking into longarm (LA) quilting machines and a friend told me about an online “list” or newsgroup. Through there, I met Janet-Lee Santeusanio and Mary Schilke. They already had longarms and were hosting a get together for LA quilters and wanna-be’s in Sunset Hill, NH. That wasn’t too far away, so Tom and I signed up. I got to try my first LA there (you didn’t see them at every quilt show like you do now!) and was hooked. The rest of that story is history…but here’s what happened… Read more »

The Finished Project!

Today we celebrated 25 years of Messiah Lutheran’s ministry in Amherst NH! It was a great day of celebration with wonderful music, the Bishop preached and we had a wonderful luncheon! Old and new friends were there and it felt like everyone had a great time! A lot of hard work went into today – there was cleaning done, painting done and LOTS of planning done! We also had the liturgical banner Connie, Trudi and I have been working on for the past eleven months dedicated. It felt so good to see it hanging and people ohhhing and ahhhing over… Read more »

A Journey’s End…

It started about 8 years ago. I was at Camp Calumet and saw a poster on one of the bulletin boards that was a picture of a mural that artist David Hetland created at the 2003 ELCA Youth Gathering in Atlanta, GA. It was love at first site. I kept thinking, I want to reproduce that in fabric! I even dreamt about it! Finally I got up the courage to ask for the poster…and it was MINE! Fast forward to 2006…my husband (a Lutheran Pastor) accepts a call to Messiah Lutheran Church in Amherst NH. After a while of settling… Read more »
